...and heal from it.
A crew of over thirty fellow filmmakers, family, friends and strangers, came together to create "Graffiti Flowers", and it would have been impossible to achieve without such a dedicated and talented crew. I cannot begin to express the gratitude I have for everyone involved, each of them came with the common goal to initiate change. The goal of the film is to expose violence by leaving the shame attached to talking about it behind. We want to work towards ending the violence, this rampant, epidemic abuse of one another.
I am forever grateful to those people who participated in the film, and to those who will stand up in the future and share their stories, helping to bring healing to themselves and to others.
Thank you.

An inspiring filmmaker, Crystal grew up in the small farm town Airdrie Alberta, where she grew up in her mother's dance school. It was there she found a love of theatre, performance and drama in her early life. Having been a performer from the age of three, she found as she got older, a desire to write stories and see them in action. Filmmaking was a natural progression.
At the age of 18, Crystal attended the University of Calgary, where she studied English Literature and Dance for two years. Over those two years Crystal wrote what turned into her first digital video feature film (unreleased) "Little Keepers", in the small rural town of Acme, Alberta. Her first feature as Writer, Director and Producer included a principal cast of 5 children ranging from 10 months old to thirteen, with the story centering on a group of siblings who run away from home in hopes of finding a better life then the small farm town in which they lived.
Upon a successful edit of her film, Crystal then decided to hone her filmmaking craft, attending Capilano College Professional film studies program in North Vancouver, British Columbia and graduated their program with two short films and a feature film under her belt. From there she was chosen by her professors to Direct her first professionally paid contract with Human Resources Canada, directing 3 PSA vignettes for internet release on various careers available to the youth of Canada.
The following year, SOT, an international travel company commissioned Crystal to travel to Thailand and Direct/Co-Write a promotional feature length travel documentary promoting Thailand and specializing in off the beaten path experiences. From there, Crystal worked alongside Vancouver Director Michael French, and was asked to direct a 2 minute opening for a comedy special. The opening featured Jim Byrnes, a well known and much loved musician/actor.
After garnering experience over the last 5 years, Assisting Producers on such films as "White Chicks", "Are We Done Yet?" and "Little Man" to name just a few, Crystal gathered priceless industry contacts and Mentors that led her to the completion of her current film "Graffiti Flowers", based on real events regarding violence against women.
With her diverse knowledge and experience, Crystal has also worked with local independent filmmakers creating their schedules and budgets, and has also been First Assistant Director on feature films such as "Seeking Fear", starring Lisa Ray, as well as the international Irish gangster spoof "Hooligans" to name just a few. Her Directing role in short films, music videos, film art pieces and promotional videos in Calgary and Vancouver are numerous. Crystal remains a passionate and committed filmmaker, with a desire to make honest and humanistic films, with a touching resonance for audiences world wide.
